Welcome!
We are currently looking to publish our first journal! Our theme for this journal is "(Re) Building Our World: A Collection of Post-Humanity Tales."
Feel free to interpret this theme through any speculative genre, and through the details provided below. Anyone from any nationality and any age can submit, but stories and poems must be in English (though words and phrases from other languages are okay). Also, our publication date is set for Fall 2024 as an online publication. However, we do plan to publish Anthologies and Collections in print in the near future.
Details
The focus of Immersions Journal is immersion, as understood in the process of world building. Stories should engage readers and make them forget their primary world through a compelling blend of strange and familiar. World building doesn’t need to be Tolkien level (you don’t need to invent fourteen languages!), but it should be crafted with enough care to enchant a reader.
As Tolkien notes, writers make “a Secondary World which your mind can enter. Inside it, what [the author] relates is 'true': it accords with the laws of that world. You therefore believe it, while you are, as it were, inside. The moment disbelief arises, the spell is broken; the magic, or rather art, has failed. You are then out in the Primary World again, looking at the little abortive Secondary World from outside” (On Fairy-Stories).
In other words, Immersions Journal seeks stories and poems that pull readers into another world without breaking the spell.
